Foetal Juice – Masters of Absurdity (Review)

Foetal JuiceFoetal Juice are a UK death metal band and this is their debut album.

This is brutal death metal with a professional, heavy sound. Across 35 minutes the band brutally rape your senses and stab you with frozen shit over and over again.

Does that sound like something you would like? DOES IT?

I especially enjoy the vocals on this release, (along with everything else here, of course). The high-pitched screams are particularly scathing and acidic, while the deep growls are really nasty and guttural.

The band play fast a lot, (and well), but also know when to rein things in a bit and subject you to a touch of mid-paced bludgeoning. The songs have a good sense of dynamics and pacing in this regard, never overplaying their hand with too much of one type of assault.

Essentially, this is well-written death metal by a band that have taken the time to get to know their style before birthing their first full-length abomination on the world. Judging by the quality seen on Masters of Absurdity, it’s been time well spent.

This is a stupidly enjoyable album. By that I mean it’s just so very good. I love death metal, (who doesn’t), and Foetal Juice have a winning combination of passion, enthusiasm and actual talent. They could go far, and hopefully they will.

Very highly recommended.
