Fuath – III (Review)

Fuath - IIIThis is the third album from Fuath, a one-man UK black metal band.

I enjoyed 2020’s II, so the appearance of III is a most welcome sight. Brought to us by the artist behind Saor, this is old-school black metal with an atmospheric focus. III contains four songs and clocks in at 43 minutes in total duration.

This is atmospheric black metal, icy, cold, and evocative. The music carries blackened melodies on its freezing winds and walks paths that are dark with threat. These lands are hostile, but not without beauty. An aggressive streak runs like a raging river through the heart of III‘s forbidding landscape, one that’s rich in melodic and atmospheric depths.

III offers a hypnotic, transportive journey into the world of Fuath. It’s a trip that’s worth taking, as this collection of songs is very satisfying, enjoyable, and easy to like. Each song is well-crafted from ancient foundations and given life by the skilled hands of the artist. Their aggressive and melodic components are set at the right levels, and balance each other well, allowing the absorbing music to work its magic. Honestly, III is hard to find fault with in any meaningful way. It does exactly what you want a classic 90s atmospheric black metal album to do.

The artist behind Fuath has crafted an effortlessly engaging record, and I heartily recommend that you spend some time with it and start 2026 off strong.
