This is the debut album from Swiss black metallers Supayniyux.
Genocidio Infernal contains 37 minutes of bestial black metal. It’s an ugly, noisy hybrid of black and death metal, one that revels in its blasphemy and hatred as its claws carve flesh and its teeth chew through bone.
Instead of the promo passing me by like so many unfortunately do, something about this one made me play a bit of a sample. As soon as I did, I was blown away by the intensity and raw chaotic darkness of the band’s music. Yep, I had to delve deeper into this one. As I did, I discovered that the entire album delivers just as dense a maelstrom of violence and horror as I had hoped for. Truly, Genocidio Infernal is a beast.
As brutally cruel and savage as this is, Supayniyux also infuse their nightmare creation with horrific atmosphere here and there, creating a macabre backdrop to their violent carnage. Supplemented with infernal majesty, fiery guitar solos, and murderous hooks, there’s more to Genocidio Infernal than simple aggression.
Of course, said aggression is the main feast here, when all is said and done. This is nasty, unforgiving music that’s blunt and unsubtle in its pursuit of sonic mayhem. Supayniyux understand this, which enables them to channel the inherent chaos of the style into songs that may be one drum beat away from turning completely feral, but until they do they provide a barely restrained structure that’s packed with spiked riffs, gruesome growls, shouts that sound like a call to war, and drums that are probably played by a daemon.
Genocidio Infernal is a like a repeated shock to the system delivered by a grim apparition in bladed robes of shadow and terror. It’s not for the feint of heart, but for fans of bestial black/death metal, it’s quite the merciless treat.
Very highly recommended.
