Standard Interrogation Techniques: Five Questions for Aviana (Interview)

Although I’d ideally love to be able to conduct hard-hitting, in-depth interviews, who has the time these days? In lieu of this, I’ve thrown together the below question template, hopefully to gather some interesting and informative results, without taking up too much of anyone’s time.

Introduce yourself – who are you and what do you do?

My name is Joel Holmqvist and I’m the vocalist for the band Aviana.

Tell us about your latest release and why people should listen to your music

The album Corporation is the collection of singles we’re releasing. It’s containing singles from when I had to start this band from the ground up again and reform the sound, image and approach. I’ve never been prouder of anything I’ve ever created. It’s anger, anxiety and hopelessness all packed into 11 songs.

What’s the most important thing to you about your music? What meaning does it give you and what purpose does it serve in your life?

The biggest thing for me is to be able to give the fans a voice, and to be a voice for them telling them it’s okay. You’ll get through the hard times as long as you keep on fighting. I’m the living proof of that.

Tell us a lesser-known interesting or funny anecdote about your band or music

We have trigger words for each other that are mostly from Japanese memes and it’s horrendous, haha.

Finally, what are you listening to at the moment that you especially enjoy and wish more people knew about?

I always come back to listening to my friends in the band Noija, they are an alternative metal/rock band from Sweden. Such a great bunch of human beings and the music they’re creating are incredible.
