This is the seventh album from Australian death metallers Werewolves.
Werewolves! Oh yeah! It’s hard to dislike a band like this. Reliably pumping out album after album of ferocious death metal ugliness…Werewolves are almost an institution at this point. Serving up 33 minutes of utter nastiness, You’re Weak and You Know You’re Weak is here to rend and destroy. Let’s get to it then.
In 1990 Speedball 2 was released, which was dubbed Brutal Deluxe. This seems oddly relevant to Werewolves, as their blackened death metal is certainly brutal, and You’re Weak and You Know You’re Weak delivers a deluxe package of extremity for the listener’s delectation. The luxurious blast beats pamper with their punishing attention, while the high quality guitars slash and maim. No expense has been spared in this savage excruciation. Werewolves know that you deserve the best pain and suffering that money can buy, and are here to provide the most opulent of beatings.
I mean, the title says it all really. This is an uncompromising, relentless, superior blend of hyper-caffeinated fury. Werewolves have got it. It’s hard to know what this mysterious ‘it’ is, but whatever it is, they have it in spades. You’re Weak and You Know You’re Weak is a complete beast.
Did you know Werewolves play fast? I bet you didn’t. I bet you were sitting there thinking, “Hmm, Werewolves. They sound like a nice and slow band, nice and calming. I’ll check them out.” No. Don’t do it. They’re fast, nasty, and prone to violence. This shit sounds like an industrial sander taken to the face. Do you want that to happen to you? Do you? DO YOU?
Of course you do, as You’re Weak and You Know You’re Weak. Album number seven is as effortlessly good as all Werewolves albums are. It’s better than most, in fact, as Werewolves are on fire.
