This is the debut album from post-rock band You, Infinite.
Brought to us by founding members of This Will Destroy You, You, Infinite contains 65 minutes of instrumental post-rock. I find this sort of style quite easy to become bored by, but not when it’s in as capable hands as these ones. You, Infinite have plenty of experience in this area, and have produced a record that does not disappoint.
You, Infinite is a vast album, yet an intimate one. It excels at the creation of instrumental soundscapes that paint pictures without words. Delicate, graceful, tinged with electronica, and imbued with great emotive depth, this is an album to fall deeply into and immersive yourself in.
Within You, Infinite you’ll find heartfelt music that ranges from ambient introspection to fragile thunder, and much between. When drums are present the music is richly percussive. The album brims with resplendent beauty, and is awash with shades of emotive colour, all arranged by artists that know how to shape sound. The songs are textured and well-considered, revealing songwriting that manages to be primarily about feeling, but without neglecting the details that ultimately go into crafting captivating post-rock musical experiences.
This is a wonderful and compelling way to spend 65 minutes. If you’re a post-rock aficionado, then this is something you must dive deeply into.
Very highly recommended.
