Louise Lemón is a Swedish death gospel artist and this is her latest EP.
Although it’s not normally a style I listen to often, I have very much enjoyed Louise Lemón’s past work. As such, listening to Devil was a given.
Louise Lemón has established a favourable reputation for herself based on good songwriting and memorable tunes. Death gospel essentially equates to a dark take on pop, and on Devil that means five gorgeous laid-back songs. The vocals are the focus, as you world expect, and are extremely well-performed, but the musical side has not been neglected. In fact, it’s great to hear music of this sort where it’s obvious that the full musical package has had proper attention, rather than aspects of it simply being treated as a backdrop for the singer’s talent.
With quality, enjoyable songs, Louise Lemón is deserving of the praise she gets. Highly recommended.
