Bleed from Within – Zenith (Review)

Bleed from Within - ZenithThis is the seventh album from UK metal band Bleed from Within.

Despite being aware of Bleed from Within since they began – and I even saw them live I think many, many, many years ago in a support slot somewhere – I had never actually heard them properly before now. Zenith was a good opportunity to change this and see what I’ve been missing out on. Well, what do Bleed from Within have to offer?

47 minutes of enjoyable contemporary metalcore song-focused heaviness, apparently.

Zenith is a solid slab of catchy metalcore heaviness, displaying all of the elements you’d want in the style, with few of the weaknesses. Bleed from Within also flesh out their sound with some atypical creative ideas here and there, which helps to give Zenith a personality of its own. Guests from Alluvial, (guitar solo), Sylosis, (vocals), and Mastodon, (vocals), appear also, adding extra touches when they appear.

Well-delivered riffs, choruses, structures, breakdowns, dynamics, etc. – Bleed from Within know what they are doing. Elements of melodic death metal, groove metal, technical metal, and metalcore are all used to help construct the songs, with the band using what works best for them at any given moment. It all fits together well, the various components resulting in songs that are destined to go down a storm in the live arena, I’m sure.

I don’t know what their older stuff sounds like, (yet), but Zenith is the sound of a well-oiled professional contemporary metal band playing the music they enjoy. This comes through in the material, infusing it with energy.

This is one to add to the gym playlist.
